How to Find Your Self

Self discovery isn’t about finding yourself somewhere in the world. It starts from within and by going back to the beginning. It’s time to dig down deep past the beliefs you currently hold to find what each of us have held all along: Our Truth.

Sit in Stillness

Who am I?

No, really. Who am I? This isn’t some rhetorical question or leading question that implies you should know who I am. Because let’s get real for a moment, I don’t even know who I am. I thought I did, but then one day it hits you that BAM that reflection looking back at you was not who you are, your Self, but rather the project of what you thought you should become.

But even for that, was it really who I wanted to be? Is my story character driven, or plot driven? And in life, is there really a better drive between the two? Maybe it’s all dependent on the person, but I believe our goal in self discovery and mindfulness is changing our story from being plot driven to character driven.

It’s time to go from reacting to what comes our way, to acting — Acting out our wants and our dreams which lead us in the direction we want to go. Begin realizing that you hold all of the answers you seek if you would only pay attention to yourself.

We are constantly being told how to do things, how what we do defines who we are, and to follow these set genres of life. We are given paradigms to fit into and even when we don’t fit quite right, we’re stuffed in somewhere. Unfortunate, really.

Find Your Own Footing

In our human-ness (that’s a legit word, back off) we are always looking for connections. Everything we know is relative. We cannot grasp what we do not already know, and yet there are those people throughout history who dare to go beyond the curtain and grasp for things we’ve never thought of before.

The bravery and ingenuity of others shows that we are all capable of doing the same. Personal success and fulfillment is not for the select few, but for the many. Our passive acceptance of what is holds us back from what can be.

It is time to rediscover your power and possibilities. How awesome would it be if this form of life, this character driven, paradigm-breaking life is one that can become an acceptable paradigm? The game would change. Truly, the possibilities that would open for everyone would be unbelievable.

But now the question is, how do we go about doing it? How do we go from seeing the door that leads to our real lives, our real Self, to walking through it? What are the steps that we need to take to get up to it? What are the actions needed to turn the handle, push open the door, and finally walk through? While it can be a bit overwhelming, there are easy steps you can take now to help you begin.

  • ACCEPT that there is more to learn, that you can have more, and that you are more than you know.
  • LISTEN to the lessons all around you. Feel the energy and vibrations that surround you. Listen to yourself and respect the truth you hold.
  • LIVE in awareness and be mindful of what you consume. Live life with meaning and purpose. Abundance is present to those who are as well.

Stand Tall

It is time to break free and no longer accept the status quo. You are worthy and meant to live your best life. Shift your mindset and see how the world reveals itself to you. Remember that our acceptance of what is holds us back from what can be. So I only have one thing left to say — or ask.

Who are you?
